CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY & MECHANISM OF ACTION

INDICATIONS & CLINICAL USE

- Primary hypogonadism following orchidectomy or testicular castration.
- Eunuchoidism and congenital or acquired testicular failure.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

WARNINGS & SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
- Cardiovascular Supervision: Middle-aged and elderly male patients presenting with angina pectoris, prior coronary artery disease, or severe circulatory disorders must undergo testosterone replacement therapy only under stringent medical supervision.
- Fluid & Electrolyte Retention: Androgens induce renal retention of sodium, potassium, chloride, and water. Careful monitoring is required for patients with a history of latent or overt cardiac failure, hypertension, renal impairment, epilepsy, or migraine headaches.
- Pediatric & Prepubertal Caution: Highly discouraged in pediatric patients and prepubertal boys to prevent precocious sexual development and premature epiphyseal plate fusion, which can permanently stunt adult stature.
- Laboratory Interference: A minor decrease in protein-bound iodine (PBI) levels may occur during therapy, though this holds no direct clinical significance.
